Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: se Wind Stength: 5-15 Surf / Sea State: flatish Air Temperature: 14 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 12 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 11.87 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
My mate Neil Hurrell rang and asked if I was up for a longboard cruise
today,so we met at The Dip at eleven but the onshore wind was very light :(
After chatting for an hour we decided to rig and see if there was more wind
up the River Deben. As my 9.4 is being repaired I had to rig the 8.5 and we
wobbled off the beach just after midday in next to no wind !!! We made it a
few hundred metre's up the beach before going ashore on kiter beach and I
had already fallen in - not funny as I was wearing my shortie for the first
time this year !!! The breeze filled in a little and we set off again on a
run up the river the the incoming tide helping. At Ramsholt we decided to
continue up to Waldringfield and made it there just before the tide
turned. After a snack break we looked at the large section of water just
above Waldringfield before setting off on the beat back. This was the best
part of the trip with wind against tide and the strongest wind of the day
we could rail the boards right up and we were close together all the way,I
lead at Felixstowe Ferry and it was great to sail in the very fast out
going current :) but as soon as we made it to the seafront the wind died
and Neil managed to edge in front with his 9.4 !!!! So another great 4
hours on the water in the sunshine and Neil treated us to tea and cake at
the hut :)
